This year’s Miss America pageant is more special than past years.  For on Saturday night, the organization will be marking it’s 90th anniversary.

Over the past three nights, preliminary competition has been taking place and the culmination of the big event will take place on Saturday night.  Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan was named Thursday night’s preliminary winner for talent.  She played the piano.  Miss Oklahoma Emoly West then took home the title of lifestyle and fitness winner.  This is more traditionally known as the swimsuit competition.

Both of Thursday night’s winners were awarded a scholarship.  Thursday was simply a preview of what is about to happen on Saturday.  During the spotlight event, the current Miss America Caressa Cameron from Virginia will official end her time on the “throne” and the 2011 winner will be crowned.

Brooke Burke from “Dancing with the Stars” and Chris Harrison from “The Bachelor” will co-host the big event.  It has been leaked that the judges of the competition will be Joy Behar from “The View,” 1991 Miss America Debbye Turner Bell, “Despirate Housewives” executive producer Marc Cherry, Marilu Henner (an actress), and Taryn Rose (a shoe designer).

The big event will air on Saturday at 9 PM EST on ABC.
