Windows has revealed that their latest operating system Windows 8 is now available for preordering.
Windows 8 is the brand new Operating System from Microsoft. It will be a major leap from Windows 7, featuring a whole new interface and functionality.
The new Win 8 Pro is available for preordering through Microsoft’s online store right now and is priced at $69.99.
An upgrade offer is in the cards for people who are willing to wait until October 26, 2012. Current Windows users will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 at Windows.com for just $39.99. According to Microsoft, the online upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will be available for users in 140 countries worldwide, in 37 languages, and 23 supported currencies.”
In another interesting offer by Microsoft: if a consumer has bought or will buy any genuine Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013, they will be eligible for a Windows 8 upgrade for just $14.99. This offer will also be available starting October 26, 2012.
Regarding Windows 8 devices and PC’s, Microsoft said “starting today, you will be able to pre-order new Windows 8 PCs and devices from OEM partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Samsung and Sony.”
Win 8 is said to have a very steep learning curve. With a whole new interface and different handling than traditional Windows operating systems, it will be interesting to see how well the new system is embraced by shoppers.
