World Cup: USA V Germany – Live Streaming, Radio & Predictions

Competing in their last World Cup Group G match, the USA takes on Germany today.

A draw would see both teams go through to the knockout stages. Both sides say they are playing to win and will come out fighting.

The match kicks off at 12 p.m ET, and is being streamed live online by the BBC and ESPN (subscription required). If you’d rather listen than watch you can tune-in via the web and radio.

Radio coverage in the US can be found on your local ESPN Affiliate, and you can find live audio commentary online from the BBC and talksport.com.

Germany goes into the match as strong favorites, despite an impressive set of recent results by the US squad.

While a draw would see both teams go through, a loss for the US would cause their fate to hinge on the result of Ghana vs Portugal.

American fans will be hoping that Clint Dempsey continues his excellent run of form.

The US captain is making his mark in this World Cup, having scored a 30 second wonder-goal against Ghana and scoring again against Portugal despite a broken nose.

On the German side, the man to watch is surely Thomas Müller. Müller racked up three goals in the German victory over Portugal, and his deadly accuracy singles him out as the biggest threat amongst a strong attacking team.

There has been some speculation that both teams will sit back and play a defensive game, happy to walk away with a draw. I think this is unlikely.

Neither of the two teams have demonstrated a reliable back line during the competition so far, and both have a strong attacking mindset.

The US squad also knows that just one mistake could see them out of the competition – only a win will guarantee safety for them. After the heart breaking late goal they conceded against Portugal, it is unlikely they will rest on their laurels.

My prediction for the match is a hard fought contest, resulting in a 2-1 win for Germany.

Do you think the US can overcome Germany and guarantee their place in the next round?
