Harley-Davidson has started the first leg of a global market research trip this week in the U.S.A.

Project “LiveWire” is aimed at developing Harley’s first all electric bike.

The cool part is, you could participate.  Costumers will have the opportunity to ride one of the demo models, and give their opinions as to what they would like to see in the finished product.

The tour kicks off traveling down Route 66 and will visit over 30 dealerships in the U.S.A in 2014. The tour will then travel to Canada and Europe for 2015.

While this bike is full of future tech, it still retains the style and heritage expected from a Harley-Davidson.

Part of the experience of riding the companies iconic bikes is the sound of the V-Twin engine. Being an electric means you loose that connection, however, Harley has developed a unique sound tract for this future classic.

Senior V.P. and Chief Marketing Officer, Mark-Hans Richer, describes it this way,”Think fighter jet on an aircraft carrier. Project LiveWire’s unique sound was designed to differentiate it from internal combustion and other electric motorcycles on the market.”

As fuel supplies dwindle and emissions regulation tighten Harley-Davidson is determined to continue in their mission of providing its customers the freedom of the open road regardless of what bureaucracy may come.

It is good to know that the company, which is now 111 years old, can still learn new tricks.
