WOWair Offering Cheap Flights To Iceland | Must See Icelandic Festivals

Now that the Icelandic Airline WOWair is offering inexpensive flights to and from Iceland, getting to Iceland on a budget has become a whole lot easier.

Tickets range from $99 all the way to $400 USD, depending on how early you purchase the tickets and which day you chose to fly. Wowair’s port cities in the United States include Boston and Washington D.C.

Iceland is a great gateway between America and Europe, so even if you’re just stopping in Iceland, there are several festivals to attend while. Most of Iceland’s festivals take place in the fall (September-November), which also happens to be their busiest season.

One of Iceland’s biggest music festivals, Iceland Airwaves, will take place November 4-8, 2015. Iceland Airwaves began in 1999 and has since become one of the world’s foremost annual musical performances. This year’s line-up includes popular artist Björk, the featured artist of the show, as well as artists such as Hekla, Ariel Pink, and La Priest.

To buy tickets or for more information, visit the Iceland Airwaves website.

A shorter one-day festival called Culture Night (Menningarnótt) will take place on Saturday August 22, 2015. Culture Night is actually an entire day of dancing, music, art, games, and shopping in the country’s capital Reykjavík. Most museums and galleries offer free entryas a Culture Night bonus. The Reykjavík marathon occurs on Culture Night as well.

For more information check out the Culture Night website here.

If you’re into movies, check out the Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF) from September 24- October 4 this year. RIFF features brand new cutting-edge films from over forty countries from categories such as drama and non-fiction film. You can even watch a film from a swimming pool.

If you’re heading to Iceland this fall, consider checking out one of these festivals!
