2 Winners Split The Mega Millions $355 Million Jackpot

It is official! The Mega Millions $355 million has been won and there are 2 winning tickets, one from Washington and the other one from Idaho. The two ticket holders are going to split the prize.

Mega Millions did not announce the identity of the winners so far. The odds to hit the jackpot were 1 in 176 million and the two managed to choose the winning combination: 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and 42 as the mega ball.

Although the odds to win the grand prize were astronomical, according to Carolyn Hapeman, spokeswoman for the New York State lottery division, there are people that have done it before. In fact, this is the first jackpot winner since November 25.

What makes it really difficult to win in the Mega Millions lottery is the fact that the jackpot is formed out of 5 numbers and the extra mega ball. Players need to hit all of them in order to do so. There have been 67 players that hit all the five numbers but did not manage to hit the mega ball. They are only going to win $250,000.

The Mega Millions $355 million jackpot is not the biggest one that has been awarded. The biggest one ever, $390 million, was won in March 2007. There were two winners then and there are two winners now.
