Are you ready for some football?  Good, because  football season is finally here and kicks off tonight when the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks host the Green Bay Packers in what should be a great match between two storied teams.

The game is being broadcast on NBC TV at 8:30 P.M (EST)/ 5:30 P.M. (PST).

You can also catch all the action streaming on NBC Sports Live Extra or see the replay on NFL Game Rewind .

NBC Sports Live Extra is a free service, but you can only access it through your existing cable provider.

NFL Game Rewind requires a subscription.  There are various plans, including a $9.99 option to watch for 7 days, $29.99 to see all of your favorite teams games only, $39.99 for the season ($10.99 a month) and $69.99 for the full season, including the playoffs and Super Bowl.

The Seahawks and Packers have a long history of epic battles and both are looking to be Super Bowl contenders this season.

Green Bay, led by super-star quarterback Aaron Rodgers have always had an explosive offense, but this year they look even more formidable thanks to a much improved defense.

Julius Pepper, who was acquired from Chicago during the off season should play a pivotal role in that capacity and will be instrumental in  helping the Pack contain the Seahawks and Russell Wilson in particular.

The Seahawks, meanwhile, are back with the same defense from last year, which was the best in the NFL so they should be solid in that department.

Offensively, they were a little shaky at times, but they did win the Super Bowl, so with improved consistency this year they could be unstoppable.

Quarterback Russell Wilson looked sharp during pre-season and seems on track to be grouped among the sports “elite” quarterbacks, which is a good sign.

This game should be a great start to a great season.  I’m predicting Green Bay wins this one: 24-21.
