Preview: The first 5 teams picking (in order) are: The Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks and Orlando Magic.
Minnesota has the first overall pick and all indications are that they will pick Towns, who is considered to be the top prospect in the group.
Towns would give them a solid core group of young players to build on and is a smart choice for them if they want to be contenders.
The Lakers could go with Okafor, who is expected to go 2nd overall, or trade their pick to pick up a more established star, like Demrrcus Cousins, as it’s rumored the Kings are interested in dealing him.
For the 76er’s odds are they will go with a guard, which seems to be the way the Knicks are leaning as well, though there are rumors they may grab forward Trey Lyles .
Either team could also take a chance on Latvian Kristap Porzingis, though it seems more likely that the Magic will snatch him up.
Of course, this is the NBA Draft, so we know to expect a few surprises- which is what makes it so much fun to watch.
