The Christmas season officially kicks off in NYC on Wednesday, December 2, with the 2015 Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony live from Rockefeller Plaza.
This is the 83rd annual lighting and as always there will be lots of performances from big name stars as the 78-ft Norway Spruce is lit up from top to bottom with 45,000 multicolored LED lights and a 9-foot-tall Swarovski crystal star.

For NYer’s planning to go there, be advised the newscasters are calling for rain.
Time & Channel: The ceremony starts at 7 P.M. EST and will be broadcast on NBC.
The show will be hosted by Today show co-hosts Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales.
Free Live streaming: free live streaming is available on your PC through NBC.com/live and on your smartphone or tablet using the NBC app for iOS and Android.
Streaming is free, but you will need to sign in using a participating cable provider for full access.
Performances: This year’s performers include: the Rockettes, Sting, Mary J. Blige, Carly Rae Jepsen, Pentatonix, Band of Merrymakers, Andrea Bocelli, The Band Perry, Andy Grammer, and James Taylor.
Best Viewing Spots: According to NY.com there will be huge crowds, so leave early to get a good view. The best spots are on either side of the ice skating rink on 49th or 50th Streets or right in front of Saks Fifth Avenue.
Visiting Hours: The tree is located at Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th and 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues.
After the ceremony the tree will be lit from 5:30 A.M. EST.-midnight daily, all day on Christmas, 5:30 A.M. EST-midnight on New Year’s Eve and 5:30 A.M-8 P.M. EST through January 6.
