Tonight on NBC’s Season 7 of The Voice, the Top 12 contestants performed live for America’s votes.
While a majority of the artists gave great performances tonight, it was Team Adam and Team Pharrell that shined brighter than the rest.
With that being said, let’s recap some of the best performances of the night!
Team Adam’s Damien “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” by Donny Hathaway
Every time Damien hits The Voice stage, he performs with so much conviction and tonight was no different. Once again, Damien gave a brilliant vocal performance as he sang every lyric with so much passion. His ability to emotionally connect to songs is unlike any other and for that he deserves immense praise.
Both Adam and Pharrell gave Damien a standing ovation.
Blake says, “Congrats, that was a great performance and a great song choice.”
Pharrell says, “I don’t know who would be prouder the church or Donny Hathaway. That was like Southern church man.”
Adam says, “I could not be any prouder in a million years than I am right now.”
Team Pharrell’s Danica Shirey performs “Creep” by Radiohead
Danica took a risk in choosing to sing an alternative rock song. The question is, did the risk pay off? We think it absolutely did! We loved how Pharrell helped in changing the arrangement of the song to give more of a soulful R&B vibe that perfectly suited Danica’s voice.
Danica did a brilliant job of putting her own special twist to the song by showcasing her unbelievable vocal range and weaving in commanding runs. It was a beyond beautiful vocal performance.
Pharrell gives Danica a standing ovation.
Gwen says, “WOW, I just love watching you. You are a freak of nature. It’s incredible that comes out of you.”
Adam says, “You are so good, so literally everything you sing will be great. You did a great job.”
Pharrell says that he was moved the first time he heard Danica sing the song so he was very happy that she was able to come out on The Voice stage and make it happen. He describes the performance as amazing and praises Danica for doing such a great job.
Team Adam’s Chris Jamison performs “Jealous” by Nick Jonas
Tonight Chris proved why he deserves to be in the Top 12 with his performance of “Jealous.” Dare we say his rendition of Jonas’ song was better than the original? Well, we sure think so. Chris did a superb job of seamlessly transitioning back and forth between his falsetto and full voice. Chris is definitely one of the most improved contestants this season and his performance tonight proved that he has a serious shot of becoming a pop sensation.
Pharrell says, “Congrats that is 100% your best performance I’ve ever seen. The way you handled that falsetto every time was effortless.”
Gwen says, “It seemed like that was your song. It showed all the strengths of your voice and was a perfect song for you.”
Adam says, “Ya, you’re cute, but you are also a talented singer.”
Well, that does it for our recap! Who was your favorite performance of the night? We want to know! Be sure to leave your thoughts below! Don’t forget that you can purchase all of tonight’s performances via iTunes and you can vote for you favorite contestants via the new Voice app.
