4G LTE iPad On The Way?

An iPad with 4G LTE connectivity will be released on Verizon and AT&T, according to “people familiar with the matter,” says a new report on the WSJ.

Rumors of a new iPad have been hot and heavy on the internet for about a week now. Apple, as is its tradition, has remained completely silent, officially at least. There have been plenty of unofficial leaks reported. Verizon and AT&T do sell the current version of iPad, so it would make since for them to get a version compatible with their 4G networks..

The iPad 3, if that’s what Apple calls the next-gen iPad, is rumored to have a more powerful processor, a better screen, and better cameras. We would venture to guess that there will be separate models introduced during the launch, Wi-Fi and 4G versions among them, along with various storage options.

We previously reported on rumors that the iPad 3 would launch sometime during the first week of March. That ‘rumor’ seems to be narrowing down to Wednesday, March 7. That date comes from Rene Ritchie over at iMore. who says he got it from “sources who have been reliable in the past.” Ritchie also believes the processor will be quad-core.

The launch is expected to take place in San Francisco.

We’ll keep you updated here on CP as more rumors – and actual details – come in.
