Nintendo has just announced that it plans to release a limited edition 3DS XL redesign alongside Yoshi’s New Island on March 14th.
The package will retail for $200, and includes a themed console without a copy of the game. Yoshi’s New Island is priced at $40 as a standalone.
The system sports a green and white Yoshi color scheme, with everybody’s favorite egg-throwing dinosaur sitting appropriately on the unit’s lid.
As far as the game is concerned, Yoshi’s New Island serves as a throwback to 1995’s Super Mario World 2 for the SNES.
Players control Yoshi, who is charged with the difficult task of keeping baby Mario safe while riding on his back. Yoshi can actually take as many hits as you need, but the trick is in keeping your finicky infant companion satisfied during this harrowing platformer journey.
The level design features lots of tricky jump scenarios, bright 2D colors, and plenty of invisible walls with secrets hidden behind them.
Has this Yoshi-centric look convinced you to get a 3DS?
