AC Milan Wins Record Sixth Italian Super Cup [Video Highlights]

AC Milan won its sixth Italian Super Cup this afternoon, when they beat rival Inter Milan 2-1. The game was played at Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing on Saturday, Aug. 6.

At halftime, Inter Milan led after Wesley Sneijder made a goal from a free kick that came after a follow by Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso.

Milan’s first goal came from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after Clarence Seedorf knocked it back.

The tie was followed by Milan forward Alexandre Pato shooting, missing, but then miraculously Kevin-Prince Boateng slid and knocked in the rebound for the win.

Milan’s record sixth Italian Super Cup victory moved Milan one Italian Super Cup clear of Inter and two ahead of Juventus.

The Super Cup is the traditional curtain raiser for the Italian football season, and is played between the previous season’s Serie A winners and Italian Cup victors.

Three of the next four Italian Super Cups are set to be played in China to help promote Italian football in Asia.
