Adobe has released its Photoshop Touch app for iPhones, the iPod Touch, and Android smartphones. The cost of the app is a one-time fee of $4.99, and can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store or from Google Play.
“Mobile phones are increasingly becoming the primary tool for people to take and edit photos,” said Winston Hendrickson, vice president of products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe. “Adobe is dedicated to serving our customers’ evolving creative workflow and we heard, loud and clear, that Photoshop fans wanted some core Adobe imaging magic on their smartphones.”
To use the app, you will need an iPhone 4S or an iPod touch 5th generation, running iOS 6.0 or later. Android phones must run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or later.
Similar to the tablet version, the Photoshop Touch app for smartphones and the iPod Touch includes layers, text graphics, selection tools, filters, and color adjustments.
Also included with the app are features like Scribble Selection and Camera Fill. Scribble Selection allows users to make precise selections using just a finger or stylus, while Camera Fill allows users to blend their camera feed with layers.
Photoshop Touch supports syncing with the Adobe Creative Cloud. This feature allows users to start a project on their smartphone, and then continue their work on a tablet or on their PC with Photoshop CS6.
2GB of free storage space is included with a free Creative Cloud account. For more than 2GB of storage a monthly paid membership is required.
