Amazon Cloud Player Debuts For iPad, iPad Mini

Amazon announced today that their Cloud Player app is now available for iPads and iPad Minis.

The app allows you to play, download, manage, and create playlists directly from the Amazon cloud. Customers can also import and play music that is already stored on their device.

“We introduced our Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod touch last summer and it’s been incredibly popular with our customers so we’ve now expanded it to iPad,” said Steve Boom, Vice President of Digital Music for Amazon. “Our goal is to make Cloud Player the most widely compatible cloud playback solution available, giving our customers the ability to buy their music once and enjoy it everywhere.”

Amazon’s Cloud Player app allows you to stream music from the cloud with an Internet connection, or you can choose to download music to your device for offline listening.

Version 2.0 of the app has updated the look and feel of the user interface. It takes advantage of the iPad’s larger screen, creating a streamlined experience.

While the app is free to download, you need to be registered with Amazon to access or import your music. There are some songs available for free on the Amazon store, but more often than not you have to pay a fee to download them.

You can import up to 250 songs from your device. After that, you have to pay a subscription of $24.99 per year, which allows you to import up to 250,000 songs.

Amazon’s Cloud Player app is also available for Android devices.
