Amazon Music VS iTunes – iTunes Deals, Amazon Steals

iTunes offers a lot of great deals on albums, but Amazon one-ups them by a long shot.

Don’t expect to find albums that were released within the last week on sale at Amazon.  But if you think a bit more long term – Amazon beats iTunes by a mile.

Amazon hosts such artists as Ariana Grande, Lorde, and Janelle Monáe, with their older albums under $4.  If you decide to download the same albums on iTunes, then expect to pay $8 and up.

Slightly newer albums, by One Republic and CHVRCHES, for example, sell for under $7 on Amazon; whereas iTunes asks for a bit more, $8.

Both iTunes and Amazon feature $0.69 songs, but Amazon offers some recent and popular songs like,  Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” and AWOLNATION’s “Sail”. At iTunes, these songs are full price: $1.29.

Compared to iTunes, purchasing from Amazon can save you $1 to $4 per album. Not a lot in the scheme of things, but enough chump change that can buy another song or two.

Buying from iTunes does have its advantages. For one thing, users can add songs immediately to their iTunes account.

With Amazon, to play a purchased track on your preferred media player, you must use Amazon’s free MP3 app and select where to export it to. So you’ll need to take that extra (tiny) step to move your music to its proper home, but you’ll be saving money by doing so.
