American Idol Adds Online Voting Capability

Starting this year with Season 10, the popular reality singing competition American Idol will incorporate online voting each week as a way for fans to keep their favorite contestants on the show.

Voting will take place on AmericanIdol.com but will use the social media giant Facebook as a security feature. Facebook will be used to verify the identity of the voter so that the maximum votes are kept. Users can vote fifty times per week on the show.

Voting for season 10 of the show will begin next Tuesday. It is expected that the addition of online voting will be more than a simple step forward for the show. It is expected to bring in many more votes for the contestants than ever before.

Fans can still vote via the traditional toll free number as they always have. Those with AT&T will still have the option of text voting. AT&T is also sponsoring the new online voting as well.
