American Idol Results – The Last Two Standing!

According to Ryan Seacrest, this week’s episode of American Idol boasted a record breaking 95 million votes. That total makes it the largest number of votes ever received in a top 3 week in the ten seasons the show has been on the air. So what did America decide? Will the finale held on Tuesday May 24 include Haley Reinhart, Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina?

This week the top three contestants were able to travel to their hometown where they were greeted with celebrations, appearances, parades and finally a concert where they were the star act. Reinhart made her appearance in Illinois where she was slightly blown away by the crowd that showed up even in the rain. The crowd of 30,000 brought tears to her eyes.

Scotty McCreery was also overcome with tears as he witnessed what his hometown in North Carolina had done for him as a celebration. But no tears quite compared to those of contestant Lauren Alaina as she toured the devastation from the storms in her home state of Georgia. All three of the remaining contestants spent the time at home being treated like royalty and visiting with those family and friends they have missed before returning to California to see who would perform in the finale.  The question Thursday night was who would that be?

America said goodbye to Haley Reinhart this week and chose to send Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina to the finale. One of the two will win the title of Season 10 American Idol on Wednesday May 25.

Reinhart’s face showed obvious upset the moment the results were announced. However, she managed to perform another rendition of Benny and the Jets ending with telling the cameras “You haven’t seen the last of this”.

The finale performance between Lauren and Scotty will take place on Tuesday May 24 at 8:00pm ET on Fox. The 2 hour results show will be on Wednesday May 25 at 8:00pm ET on Fox.
