Tonight on Fox’s American Idol Season 12, the Top 4 performed two songs- one free choice and one under the theme of “one hit wonders.” The contestants also performed duets together.
The best performance in Round one’s theme of free choice has to go to Angie Miller performing Jessie J’s “Who You Are.”
Even though we have heard Miller sing this song during Vegas week, we were still crazy about her performance. Miller singing with the piano is pure magic. She sang the song with incredible power and such profound emotion. She nearly drove us to tears.
Miller received a standing ovation from all the judges.
Mariah Carey states, “The caliber of that performance was beyond amazing.” That was a professional moment for you. It was stunning.” She also emphasized her love of Angie’s singer- song-writer ability, which she believes gives her an edge. She hints that she would love to see her perform one of her original songs.
Keith Urban declares, “that was a mini short representation for why I have so much confidence of who you are as an artist.”
Nicki Minaj says, “There is no one who compares to you when you are behind the piano. It was exceptional.”
Randy Jackson pronounces, “You made me forget this was a Jessie J song and believe this was an Angie song. It was sheer perfection. The best performance of the night. It was a 10 out of 10 out of 10. This girl is in it to win it.”
In Round Two, the best duet definitely has to go to Angie Miller and Candice Glover singing Rihanna’s “Stay.”
The girls harmonized so beautifully together. Dare we say we actually preferred their cover of the song over Rihanna’s?!
The judges gave a standing ovation, while Randy acknowledged, “That was unbelievable. That’s the way you do a duet!”
The best performance in Round three’s “one hit one wonder” once again has to go to Angie Miller, who performed Julie London’s “Cry Me A River.”
Mariah Carey called the performance an “elegant number.” She praised Angie for hitting some notes in her upper register that she described as a moment of clarity.
Keith Urban described the performance as “ mystical and celestially powerful,” While Nicki Minaj announced, “tonight was your night.”
Randy agreed with Nicki as he stated, “Angie Wins the night, she’s in it to win it.”
