Apple Announces Winner Of 25 Billionth Download Contest

Apple has announced the name of the winner of their 25 Billionth Download contest.

The contest was concluded last Saturday when Apple’s countdown clock reached the 25 billionth download. Apple announced the winner yesterday. Chunli Fu, from the city of Qingdao, located in eastern China. Chunli Fu downloaded the 25 billionth app and in doing so, won a $10,000 (in US funds, approximately 63,000 Chinese yuan) Apple iTunes gift card.

The 25 billionth app downloaded was a free version of the popular Disney puzzle game “Where’s My Water?”

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said in a statement:

“We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded. When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.”

Approximately a year ago, Apple awarded Gail Davis a $10,000 Apple Store credit for downloading the 10 billionth app.
