Apple and Sonos announced this week that Apple Music will be available in beta version for Sonos later this month.
Beginning December 15, 2015 a public beta version will give Sonos listeners the opportunity to stream Apple Music through their Sonos smart speakers.
Sonos’ smart speakers can be controlled on a room-by-room basis from an app.
Favorite features of Apple Music such as My Music, Radio, New and For You will already be available through the beta version.
“Streaming is bringing more music into everyone’s lives—and that’s a better life. The introduction of Apple Music marks an inflection point for streaming and its mass adoption,” said Sonos co-founder and Chief Executive Officer John MacFarlane, in a press statement. “Now that we have access to virtually all the music on Earth, how music lovers listen to it is even more important. We are honored to bring Apple Music to Sonos listeners all over the world.”
“Many of our members love Sonos and want to enjoy our service throughout their homes,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, in a press statement. “We’re thrilled to be working with Sonos to provide the Apple Music experience in even more places fans enjoy music.”
The full release of Apple Music for Sonos will be available in early 2016. No specific date was provided.
