The 2015 #AppleEvent kicked off at 1 P.M. (EST) today at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and the company wasted no time unveiling its newest offerings.
Among the most buzzed about items were the new iPad Pro, a new Apple stylus pen, and smart keyboard, all of which will be available starting in November; you can see pictures of these items below.
The iPad Pro was introduced on stage by Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller.
It is Apple’s biggest and most powerful iPad to date, with new features and improvements that make it function with the precision of a laptop while still looking and feeling like a tablet.
Measuring 12.9″ diagonally, it comes in silver, gold and space gray, with a width of 6.9 mm and weight of about 1.5 pounds.
It has a retina display and boasts an astounding 5.6 million pixels, along with 10 hours of battery life.
There is also a four-speaker audio system that: “puts out three times the audio volume of an iPad Air 2,” according to Schiller.
The iPad Pro will sell for $799 for the 32 GB Wi-Fi model; $949 for the 128 GB Wi-Fi model; and $1,079 for the 128 GB model, which also comes with Wi-Fi and cellular options.
The new iPad Pencil stylus was designed to work with the Pro. According to Apple chief design officer Jony Ive it is a unique must-have accessory.
Ive explained that the iPad can detect the pencil’s angles and force when being used, varying the appearance of lines being drawn.
Finally, there is a Smart Keyboard that connects via 3 circles on the iPad Pro known as smart connectors; the keyboard supplies power and data, and will retail for $169.
