Free On Google Play Today: Great 60’s & 70’s Pop Music!

The number 1 selling soundtrack on Google Play, “Awesome Mix Volume 1,” is available on Google Play for free.

To celebrate today’s digital release of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the music, which features David Bowie, Jackson 5, and many others, is available at no cost on the Google Play store.

But it’s free only for today, and only in the US, unfortunate to anyone outside Hollywood’s birth nation.

The film itself, which has garnished over $330 million dollars in the United States alone, stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper as part of a group of misfits traveling through space to thwart evil that would destroy worlds.

The soundtrack, containing a mix of music spanning the late ’60s to the late ’70s, has been certified gold by the RIAA.

The list of songs on Awesome Mix Vol 1 includes Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede, Go All the Way by the Raspberries, Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum, Moonage Daydream by David Bowie, Fooled Around And Fell In Love by Elvin Bishop, I’m Not in Love by 10cc, I Want You Back by the Jackson 5, Come and Get Your Love by Redbone, Cherry Bomb by The Runaways, Escape (The Piña Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes, O-O-H Child by The Five Stairsteps, and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye.

While the digital release of the film is today, the Blu-ray/DVD release is scheduled for December 9th.
