Back-to-school tax free holidays are offered by many states as an attractive way to get customers into stores and give parents a break – and are especially useful during the current economic hard times. Sales taxes are waived on certain products during a short time period. The products that are available tax free vary by state.
Back-to-school tax free holiday weekends are traditionally held in August. The tax free waiver often applies to clothing, shoes, books, technical tools, and more.
