Baltimore Barfight Turns Deadly; Officer Dead, 4 Injured

In the quiet morning hours on Sunday a barfight in Baltimore erupted onto the streets and took a fatal turn. Gunfire in the scuffle killed 2 men, one of which was a police officer, and left 4 men injured. One of the injured also turned out to be a police officer, who received a bullet in the leg.

As of yet there have been no arrests, although dozens of witnesses have been questioned about the incident.

Officers were called to the scene at the Select Lounge, a Baltimore nightclub, and found a large-scale brawl taking place.

“It was a pretty significant fight from what we understand. A large fight and a number of officers responded,” said Anthony Guglielmi of the Baltimore police “It ultimately spilled outside into the parking lot.”

Investigators still have not determined whether anyone except uniformed officers fired a weapon.

Guglielmi would not reveal the identity of the dead policeman, but said that he was 33 years old and had been on the force for 8 years.

The wounded officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators are still doing their best to piece the puzzle together.

“We have a lot of ground to cover, a lot of people to talk to,” said Guglielmi.
