Ben Affleck Will Be Batman in New Batman/Superman Movie

Warner Bros. announced today that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the new Batman/Superman movie.

“He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retains the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him,” said Zack Snyder, director of the as-yet-to-be-named movie.

Affleck will have some big shoes to fill.

Christian Bale played the Cape Crusader so very well in the Dark Night series. It will take both star power and some heavyweight acting to follow him up. Affleck has both.

Henry Cavill will be taking on the role of Superman/Clark Kent.

It will be great to see how the chemistry between California born Affleck and Cavill, who is from Britain, develops.

Affleck has had a brush with Superman before. In 2006 he played George Reeves in the movie Hollywoodland.  Reeves is the actor who played the TV version of Superman in the 1950s.

The Batman/Superman movie is currently penciled in for a July 17th, 2015, release.
