Fueling rumors of an imminent launch of a new iPad tablet from Apple, Best Buy is having a sale on the iPad 2, dropping the price by $50.
All versions of the iPad 2 are included in the $50 off sale. The 16 GB wifi version is now $450, with 3G it’s $580. The 32 GB wifi version is $550, with 3G it’s $680. The 64 GB wifi version is $650, with 3G it’s $780. Best Buy does not provide any information on their website about how long the sale will last.
It seems like rumors of an iPad 3 launch have been swirling pretty much since the launch of the iPad 2. The rumors intensified early this month, with a report suggesting Apple would have a big announcement during the first weekend in March. Since then, a consensus has formed around the launch date probably being March 7. But, of course, Apple has said nothing about that. Even whether the new iPad will actually be called an iPad 3 has been also been a subject of debate. Some say it will be an iPad 2S launched on March 7.
Another rumor that came out over the weekend is that the new iPad has been shipped from Apple’s controversial supplier, Foxconn, to the US. The shipment is supposed to arrive in the US sometime between February 26 and March 9.
