Best Buys In June: The List May Surprise You

It’s officially June! Which means it is time to spend hot summer days at the beach, celebrate Father’s Day and graduations and maybe attend a romantic summer wedding or two.

It’s also the perfect time to snag deals on items associated with these summertime events.

With Father’s Day quickly approaching, dad deals are on the rise.

Tools:

Power tools are a hot commodity this month and sales are already starting.

“If you’re looking to buy tools, especially power tools, cordless tool kits, tool storage, and automotive tools, there may be no better time than Father’s Day,” said Brent Shelton, online shopping expert at Fat Wallet.

Sears is advertising the Craftsman 311-pc. Mechanic tool set is on sale for $199.99 which is down from $399.99. From June 5 through June 11, you can save up to 30 percent off Craftsman Tools over $50, and 50 percent on the Craftsman 230-pc. Mechanic’s Tool Set, which is priced at $99.99, down from the original price of $199.99.

Lowe’s, Home Depot and Walmart are also following Sear’s lead and slashing prices on the more popular tool sets.

Lawn Care Equipment

Summer is the time to show off that perfectly manicured yard and lawn care products are dirt cheap this month.

Riding, self-propelled and push mowers are at the lowest price point they will reach all year. Leading the pack with the best sales are Sears and Lowes.  Gas trimmers and cordless edgers are also seeing drastic price reductions.

Party Items:

According to RetailMeNot’s shopping expert Sara Skirboll now is the time to cash in on kitchen accessories.

‘With wedding season in full swing, you’re likely to get a good deal on typical registry items, like kitchen accessories, home décor and dining ware.”

Macy’s for example, is offering a whopping 40 percent off dinnerware, serveware, and glassware. Other department stores such as Nordstroms, JCPenny, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Bed Bath & Beyond are just some of the retailers that are also serving up deep discounts on items needed to host a sizzling summer dinner party, graduation celebration or wedding reception.

Lingerie:

“If you’re looking for something a little spicy to wear under that new summer outfit, this is the month to do it,” said RetailMeNot shopping expert Skirboll. “The massively popular Victoria’s Secret’s semi-annual sale kicks off in June, and the discounts typically get deeper each week the sale goes on.”

Kendal Perez, who is a savings experts with CouponSherpa, said that other retailers including Target, Sears, and Aerie are capitalizing on the momentum created by Victoria’s Secret by offering deals of their own.

“In previous years, Target has offered [buy one, get one free] on bras and six-packs of underwear for $20, and Sears took off up to 80 percent on select undergarments, while Aerie off up to 50 percent off its lingerie,” Perez said.

Clothing and swimwear:

June is traditionally the time when prices on designer clothes are at their lowest and retail sales tend to peak.

A recent report by analytics firm Dynamic Action showed that retailers sold 4 percent fewer items at full price in the first quarter of 2016 than they did in 2015. Retailers are looking to getting rid of the merchandise that didn’t sell which translates into deep discounts for you.

“Sales from top designer clothing retailers like Calvin Klein and Coach are common in June, and discounts are as deep as an extra 40 percent off sale items.” But this summer we may be seeing even bigger savings across all types of retail apparel due to lackluster sales earlier this year.

Retailers are even more eager to move the leftovers out in order to make room for this season’s swim wear. Jc Penny and American Eagle Outfitters are just two retailers already offering 30 to 40 percent off junior’s swim wear.

Movie Tickets:

“Expect low-priced tickets for children’s flicks, [which] are a great way to keep kids busy while they’re out of school for the summer,” said Jespersen.

Some of the best movie deals for kids currently available are:

Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse features 10 films for kids at $5 for 10 movies, when purchased in advance or $1 per show at the door
Harkins Theatres has 10 movies for kids in 10 weeks
Regal Entertainment Group is hosting the Summer Movie Express 2016, featuring $1 movies all summer long.
