Billy Crystal To Pay Tribute To Robin Williams At The Emmys

Comedy legend Billy Crystal is expected to honor fellow funnyman, Robin Williams, at the upcoming 66th Primetime Emmy Awards this Monday, August 25, 2014.

The nine-time Academy Awards host was one of Williams’ closest friends for more than three decades and co-star in a 1997 movie, Father’s Day.

Billy Crystal will lead the tribute during the In Memoriam segment of the award show. Emmy producer Don Mischer believes he is the perfect choice to deliver a powerful and memorable tribute the well-loved actor rightfully deserves. Moreover, singer Sara Bareilles is expected to perform live during this solemn segment.

Tributes continue to pour in for the actor known for many critically-acclaimed and blockbuster movies including Jumanji, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society and Hook. The most recent homage was the very moving goodbye from David Letterman at his late-night show on Monday.

Robin Williams died of an apparent suicide last August 11 at the age of 63. The Good Will Hunting star battled alcohol addiction for years and had recently spent time in a rehabilitation center.

Susan Schneider, his wife, said in a statement that her husband was in early stages of Parkinson disease at the time of his shocking demise.
