Consumers are being forced to make shopping part of their Thanksgiving celebrations, since Black Friday deals are set to begin on Thanksgiving Day.
Many major department stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Kmart tops the list with 6am opening schedule. J.C. Penny opens at 5pm, while Macy’s, Khol’s and Sears will open at 6pm. Many Walmart stores will be open 24hrs, except Christmas Day.
A growing number of reports are also finding that the best Black Friday deals will actually be on Thanksgiving.
DealNews found that this year they have 29% more Editors’ Choice deals on Thanksgiving than they do on Black Friday. Cyber Monday ranks in second place for the most Editor’s Choice Deals in the Black Friday time-frame. Black Friday itself came in third.
The number of people who shop on Thanksgiving Day has increased as more and more stores open. Forty-seven (47%) of Thanksgiving Day shoppers plan to shop in a physical store; however, many will choose to shop online.
Some retailers who will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day are Coscto, BJ’s, Sam’s Club, Home Depot Lowe’s, Dillard’s, Nordstrom, DSW, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx.
