Bobby Farrell, a disco music icon of the seventies together with Boney M, died while on tour at the age of 61. He was found in a Russian hotel room.

According to the authorities, the performer “was found dead in his bed” and at the moment the cause of death remains unknown. Boney M agent, John Seine, confirmed this for AFP via telephone.

All that is known is that after a performance held in Saint Petersburg all seemed fine although Farrell did say that he was not feeling too well. He did not wake up the next day.

The investigative committee of prosecutors of Saint Petersburg declared that there is no sign of violence although investigations continue.

Bobby Farrell’s agent said that the star was struggling with health problems for the last 10 years including problems with the lungs, heart and stomach. Even so, he continued to perform and the 2010 tour was his last one.

His energy was hard to match and everyone was dancing to the songs of Boney M during the seventies. Although described as a bizarre person even by his agent, Bobby Farrell’s influence on music was always acknowledge and he did not quit working hard till the day he died.
