Another day and a new X Factor headline to follow.
As we have all been informed this past December, LA Reid has decided to part ways after two seasons as an X Factor judge.
Now, pop superstar Britney Spears has decided to leave The X Factor after only serving as a judge for a single season.
A source close to the singer told PEOPLE magazine that “She has made the decision that she won’t be returning. She wants to concentrate on her music.”
Spears confirmed her departure by releasing a statement Friday afternoon, declaring: “I’ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it’s time for me to get back in the studio. Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love.”
Although Spears received mixed reviews as a judge and mentor, her top contestant Carly Rose Sonenclar made it to second place in the finale.
Spears reportedly earned a whopping $15 million for just one season as a judge.
There is still no word yet whether Demi Lavato will be asked to return as a judge, but one thing is clear.
There will once again be major changes to the judges table next season.
