Police in Virginia have expressed serious concern for the safety of missing 12 year old Brittany Mae Smith after her mother was discovered dead on Monday.
Officers went to the Salem, VA home of Tina Smith Monday when co-workers were worried because she never showed for work. They discovered Tina’s body and later uncovered that the 12 year old and Tina’s car were both missing.
Authorities believe that Brittany is with Jeffrey Scott Easley, who is wanted for questioning in the death of the mother. They are hopeful that she still has her cell phone and will be in contact with her friends soon.
Though it has been stated that they believe she is alive, police have no doubt that Brittany is in danger. They have issued an Amber alert and warned people to watch for a 2005 silver Dodge Neon with VA tag XKR-2365.
