Dan Brown’s much-anticipated novel in the Robert Langdon series, Inferno, will be released in the United States and Canada on May 14, 2013.
Inferno, the fourth book in the series published by Doubleday, will once again feature symbology professor Robert Langdon as he is pitted against a riddle based on the epic poem, Dante’s Inferno.
In the original poem, Dante journeys with the Roman poet Virgil through the nine circles of Hell.
While published information is scant regarding a specific storyline, readers have come to expect a Dan Brown thriller based on riddles, puzzles, secret passage ways, and shadowy villains who deftly pull the strings of those in positions of power to throw a great many obstacles in Langon’s way, many of which are immediate threats to his life and those around him, sometimes even entire cities.
Amazon’s own book description of Inferno reveals nothing in the way of spoilers:

Dan Brown’s Inferno is being released on the tail end of the 10th birthday of his break-out number one best-selling novel, The Da Vinci Code, which was originally published in March of 2003. As part of the special celebration, a free digital copy of the book is available on his website for download from March 17 through 24.
The Da Vinci Code went on to sell over 80 million copies worldwide and was translated into 44 languages.
A movie adaptation of Brown’s previous novel, The Lost Symbol, is currently under development and is slated to star Tom Hanks reprising his role as protagonist Robert Langdon from the successful movie adaptation, The Da Vinci Code, which co-starred French actress of Amélie fame, Audrey Tautou.
Dan Brown says he actually wrote Inferno before The Da Vinci Code, but due to the complex nature of the subject matter he needed more time to develop the story as a thriller.
