Carlos Pena Signs $10 Million Deal With Cubs

The Cubs have confirmed that first baseman Carlos Pena has signed a one year, $10 million deal with the team.

Pena had an average of 36 home runs and 102 RBIs during his four seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays. 2010 was a down year for the player as his numbers showed.

He only hit a .196 for the year with 28 home runs and 84 RBIs. In 2009 he had a .227 with 39 home runs and 100 RBIs. Even with a down year Carlos Pena is expected to be an asset.

Pena will again be a free agent after completing his deal with the Chicago Cubs. He is expected to make a good addition to the team who had 149 home runs in 2009.
