A Gouda cheese that was sold by Costco in 5 states has led to an E.coli outbreak in 25 people according to the FDA.
Costco in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada carried the Bravo Farms Dutch Style Raw Milk Gouda cheese between October 5, 2010 and Monday. It was also used in the in-store tasting displays.
The cheese has led to 25 people becoming sick with E.coli in five states across the U.S. No deaths have occurred from the outbreak.
The FDA is urging people to dispose of the cheese by placing it in a sealed plastic bag inside a sealed garbage can. Costco will refund anyone who returns the cheese to the store.
E.coli symptoms include stomach cramps, dehydration, blooding diarrhea and in the extreme cases kidney failure. Anyone with these symptoms is urged to see a health professional.
