With Christmas falling on a Wednesday this year, most major stores are open on Christmas Eve, December 24.
But unlike Black Friday, most stores are holding their Christmas eve closing hours and after Christmas opening hours steady on a year to year basis.
Walmart Supercenters and Division 1 stores will close at 8pm on Christmas Eve. Walmart Neighborhood Market stores will close at 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Walmart stores will all reopen at 5am the day after Christmas. All Walmarts will be closed Christmas Day.
Target stores will be open until 9pm on Christmas Eve, according to the company. They will be closed Christmas day and reopen at 7am the day after Christmas.
Macy’s will be open until 6pm local time on Christmas Eve. They will be closed on Christmas Day, and would reopen on Wednesday at their regularly scheduled time (typically 9am).
Home Depot stores will be open until 5pm on Christmas Eve. Home Depot will be closed on Christmas. Most will reopen at 6am the day after Christmas. However, “exact hours may vary by location, so customers should check specific store hours at http://www.homedepot.com” said the company.
Costco stores close at 5:00 PM on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
A survey of Best Buy stores finds that the vast majority of their stores will close at 6pm on December 24, be closed on Christmas, and will open again at 7am on December 26.
Office Depot stores will be open until 5pm on Christmas Eve, and reopen the day after Christmas at 8am.
Toys R Us will be opening at Midnight the morning of December 24 and will stay open until 9pm. They will be closed Christmas Day. Opening times the day after Christmas vary.
And while the Post Office (USPS) will deliver mail under their normal schedule on Christmas Eve, the lobbies will close at 12 noon on Christmas Eve, according to their site. Priority Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day, but all other regular mail deliveries will not. The lobbies will be closed Christmas day and reopen at their regular times on Wednesday.
