Comic-Con 2015: Fear The Walking Dead Trailer & News [Video]

AMC just debuted the trailer to the highly-anticipated ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ series, which is set to air on August 23.

This video gives fans and newcomers to the TV world of zombies their first in-depth look at the much-talked about companion series to ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise.

‘The Talking Dead’ trailer (which you can see below) runs 3-minutes and introduces us not just to the cast, but to the set-up and feel of the show, which is somewhat different than TWD.

This show feels and plays more like a true ensemble, with no clear-cut leader in a world that is just becoming aware that something horrible is about to occur.

As executive producer David Alpert explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, these are ordinary people: teachers, counselors and others just trying to get through the day and are slowly realize something is wrong.

It makes for an interesting perspective, because it allows viewers to see just how the Zombie apocalypse comes to be.

It also gives us a chance to see the zombies evolve: when this show starts it is the beginning of the “outbreak”, so our zombie friends look quite different.

The zombies still have very human like qualities, making for some uncomfortable, but gripping moments on the show.

As you will see in the trailer, the zombie apocalypse looks and feels like an epidemic that goes terribly wrong- viewers, like the characters, will feel the tension rise and understanding begins to dawn.

‘Fear The Walking Dead’ is set around the time that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is in a coma on TWD and will eventually run along the same time frame, but this show is meant to stand on  its own- there are no plans to join the 2 casts with a crossover at this time.

The show stars Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, “Sons of Anarchy”) as Madison, Cliff Curtis (“Missing,” “Gang Related”) as Travis, Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) as Nick and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Into the Storm) as Alicia.

Also joining the cast as series regulars are Elizabeth Rodriguez (“Orange is the New Black”) as Liza and Mercedes Mason (Quarantine 2: Terminal) as Ofelia.
