Disney To Bring Duck Tales To New Generation

Disney’s cable channel, XD, is bringing back one of its classics. Deadline announced today that beginning in 2017, the award-winning series “Duck Tales,” will bring Uncle Scrooge and his nephews back for new adventures.

“Duck Tales” aired at the height of Disney’s block of time known as “The Disney Afternoon,” and was credited for its original storytelling, clever writing, and tapping into classic stories from iconic writers like Alexandre Dumas and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Multiple episodes tapped into Greek mythology and other legends.

Notable characters such as Mrs. Beakley, her granddaughter Webby, Donald Duck, Gyro, Flintheart Glomgold, The Beagle Boys and others are slated to return to their original roles.

Emmy nominated every year that it was broadcasted, it won in 1989 for Outsanding Animated Programming for the storyline “Super Duck Tales,” and in 1990 for Outstanding Film Sound Editing.

The original broadcast, based within the “Duck universe” ran from 1987 to 1990. Many of the storylines were based on the comic book series of the same name, by Carl Barks.
