The BBC is taking Doctor Who to the big screen once again, with the network announcing today that the Series 8 premiere of the long-running show will be screened in theaters the same day as its August 23 television airing.
Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special, “The Day of The Doctor,” was also shown in theaters last year, proving that fans are willing to venture out of their homes to enjoy the Doctor’s adventures with others.
The episode, titled “Deep Breath” will be a feature-length episode, as well as the first full episode to star Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor.
Directed by acclaimed director Ben Wheatley (Sightseers, A Field in England) and written by lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, the beginning of the Twelfth Doctor’s era stars Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara Oswald and sees the return of fan favorites the Paternoster Gang – Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey) – in a pulse-racing adventure through Victorian London.
