Today kicked off E3 2014!

Microsoft was first up to the plate. They brought a slew of new game with them.

With E3, some of the information, like release dates and even titles, are sometimes not final. Keep that in mind with the details below.

Microsoft’s showing for 2014

Microsoft kicked off their event with Call of Duty Advanced Warfare*. The next iteration in the long standing series had some impressive gameplay. Expected release date: November 5, 2014.

With COD: Advanced Warfare, players can expect the same great first person shooter action game they’ve come to know and love. Owners of the Xbox version will be the first to receive downloadable content.

Turn Ten Studios also showed off the newly announced Forza Horizons 2, a sequel to first arcade driving simulator game within the Forza franchise. The game is slated to release this fall on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Microsoft also revealed a free DLC add on for Forza 5 on the Xbox One: the Nurburgring Race Track. It’s available to game owners today.

A small new gameplay teaser trailer was shown for Evolve*, the 4 v 1 monster hunting game. The trailer introduces a new playable monster character and gives us another glimpse at the dark toned action game. It’s set to be released on October 21, 2104.

Fable Legends, the follow up to the beloved Microsoft exclusive Fable series, will feature four player, third person perspective, multiplayer action. No release date was announced, but a multiplayer beta was teased for release soon.

Another exclusive to the Xbox One launch line up, Dead Rising 3, made a brief appearance today. Microsoft announced a new exclusive DLC for the Xbox One console, to celebrate Capcoms’ 31st studio anniversary. This downloadable content will be available to Dead Rising 3 owners today!

Sunset Overdrive, one of the few exclusive-to-Xbox-One titles announced at E3 2013, made a re-appearance at this year’s conference with new details and actual gameplay to show off.

This third person action shooter combines easy and creative map navigation with high intensity weapon action, as players play against zombie-like characters. The game offers a new take on the popular story genre. Newly announced is the incorporation of an 8 player co-op style gameplay mode. While little information was provided, a release date of October 28, 2014, was announced.

Ubisoft’s showed off their next entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise,  Assassin’s Creed Unity*. Like previous entries, Unity is set in a historical time period. For this title, players are thrown back in time to the French Revolution.  Unlike any other title in the series, Unity incorporates a 4 player co-op mode. Gameplay of this was briefly shown. No release date was announced, but Assassin’s Creed Unity* is expected to be released during the 2014 holiday shopping season.

Microsoft and 343 Studios announced two new Halo titles, Halo Master Chief Collection, a remastered edition of previous entries in the series, and the highly anticipated next title in the series, Halo 5 Guardians. No release dates were announced, but both games are expected in 2014.

Microsoft and Xbox – 2015 and Beyond

*At this point in the conference, the focus was shifted to Microsoft’s future beyond 2014. All titles from this point on are expected to be released sometime after 2014.

New gameplay of the impressive open world game, The Witcher III*, was shown. Few details were provided, but players can expect to experience the same fantasy action role playing game as previous entries. Previously expected in 2014, the developers have now pushed back the release date to February, 2015.

Microsoft gave gamers a first look at the sequel to last year’s critically acclaimed  Tomb Raider* reboot. Few details, aside from a short teaser trailer, were announced. The game is expected to be released during the 2015 holiday season.

Ubisoft, the company behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise and the newly released Watch Dogs*, wowed the audience with an in-depth look at the previously announced title The Division*.

Set in a post apocalyptic New York City, players will have to fight to stay alive. This game is an all online title which requires players to have an internet connection and subscribe to an online multiplayer service, such as Microsoft’s Xbox live or Sony’s Playstation Plus. No official release date has been set, but players can expect a 2015 release window.

Microsoft wound down their conference with the first tease of the next entry in the exclusive series Crackdown. The game will feature the same open world style gameplay as previous entries being brought to the next generation of gaming hardware. No official release date or window was provided.

Based on today alone, the line up for 2014 and beyond looks like it will make history in the gaming industry.
