Fan of Nintendo? They have plenty of new announcements to share from E3 2014.
Amiibo:
The biggest and most unexpected reveal was Amiibo.
Amiibo are figurines, of favorite Nintendo characters, that can be brought into select compatible games. Nintendo showed an example of this in a New Super Smash Bros. demo.
Simply tap the characters base on the Wii U pad and information inside the figure will transfer to the game, allowing for a brand new gameplay experience. Nintendo plans to have around 10 figures by this holiday season, with more to come in 2015.
Support for Amiibo will also come to the 3Ds in 2015.
Splatoon:
While Nintendo stays true to its small world of characters, it’s always good to see the company go for a new IP.
Splatoon is a 4v4 multiplayer game, aimed for a younger demographic. With cute characters and a colorful world, teams of players must work together to cover the majority of the map, with ink, in order to achieve victory.
Nintendo’s targeted release is early 2015.
New The Legend of Zelda:
Briefly teased during Nintendo’s short press direct event, the new Legend of Zelda title showed off its impressive graphics and a small taste of the action gameplay.
Nintendo states this new entry to the franchise, “Introduces the first truly open world in a game from the series… Players can get to any area they can see from virtually any direct.”
Fans of the series will have to wait until 2015 to get their hands on the game.
New Super Smash Bros.
Gamers rejoice as Nintendo’s beloved brawler is being brought back in HD.
Slated for holiday 2014 release, owners of a Wii U and/or a 3Ds will have a version of the game to play. Super Smash Bros. will also be one of the first titles to support Nintendo’s Amiibo, allowing players to bring their figurine characters into the fight.
New Controller for Super Smash Bros.
Many fans of the Smash Bros. series got their start when the franchise was brought to the Nintendo Gamecube.
While the next game is being brought to the next gen of hardware, Nintendo realized some fans would miss the old control scheme of the Gamecube controller. They will be offering a solution. Nintendo will be releasing a Gamecube control adapter for the Wii U, allowing those who still own the acclaimed controller a chance to reuse it on their new systems.
If you do not have a controller anymore, Nintendo will also be releasing a retro Gamecube styled controller. The adapter will be priced at $19.99 USD and the retro controller at $29.99 USD.
Nintendo also intends to have a bundle with 1 adapter, 1 controller, and 1 copy of the new Wii U Super Smash Bros., all for $99.99 USD.
Expect the release of the adapter and controller along side the release of the game later this year.
Yoshi’s Wooly World:
Nintendo is bringing back the almost life like, yarn texture style game, in Yoshi’s Wooly World.
This 3D side scrolling adventure will allow players to play as a knit Yoshi in a delightfully plush and colorful world.
Nintendo is expecting this game to hit stores in the first half of 2015.
Nintendo continues to show its love for gamers, both new and old.
