Eddie Murphy Dead Hoax Floods Twitter

Running rampant on Twitter and the internet today has been a rumor that Eddie Murphy is dead, but fortunately for family, friends and fans it is merely a hoax.

The story laid out is that there was a fatal skiing accident in Switzerland which led to the actor’s death. None of the story is true and Eddie Murphy is alive and well.

It appears that the origin of the story is a site called Fakeawish.com where Eddie Murphy was the chosen victim. Users can selected a celebrity and create a false story surrounding that person to be used for fun and entertainment.

As with all things, this harmless story can spread and soon the world believes it to be true. When the subject is a celebrity, it is very easy to see a simple story turn in a mass rumor.

Murphy is not the first celebrity death hoax of the week. Fans have also killed off Adam Sandler and Aretha Franklin in recent days.
