Empire fans – rumors are flying that Tyrese will be joining the cast next season as a possible love interest for Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).
Based on a recent interview he gave, it appears those rumors may be true.
The Furious 7 star recently spoke with TMZ on the subject and not only did he sound willing, he sounded like he might already have a deal in the works.
The subject arose after Henson told E! News that if she and Tyrese got together on Empire, they would break the internet.
When TMZ asked Tyrese about that, he said: “I think she knows what she’s talking about. It’s almost like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. The world wants to see us together.”
He then went on to say that: ““No disrespect to Terrence Howard or Derek Luke, but every artist needs an opening act,” then ended the interview by laughing and saying: “don’t confirm that s@#t on T.V.”
As fans know, Tyrese and Henson appeared together as lovers in Tyrese’s first film, Baby Boy, in 2001 and many have been clamoring for a reunion ever since.
Empire already has an impressive list of stars already signed for guest appearances next season, including Oprah, Common and Patti LaBelle, so Tyrese joining is by no means a stretch.
