Father’s Day 2015 Smartphone & Tablet Sales

We’re looking for some big Father’s Day smartphone and tablet sales today from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, USCelluar, and FreedomPop.

When it comes to tablets, the LG G Pad is a popular Father’s Day giveaway this year.

USCellular has the LG G Pad F 7 for a penny on contract.

Sprint has the LG G Pad 7 for free and half off tablet service for the first six months when it’s paired with a newly purchased phone. According to Sprint, this offer is only available in stores.

AT&T also has the LG G Pad 7 either free (refurbished) or  99¢ (new) with the purchase of a plan.

T-Mobile has the best deal of the bunch though – they are offering up the LG G Pad F 8 for free on contract. Everyone else’s is the 7 inch version.

When it comes to smartphones on sale for Father’s Day, we aren’t seeing the competitive hunger from the phone companies that we saw several years ago.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon… none are pushing any Father’s Day deals through their website homepages.

Of the companies we contacted for this story, AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon didn’t even reply with a sales flyer.

One company that is aggressively on the hunt for new customers is FreedomPop. They have the HTC Evo 4G LTE on sale for $59.99 with a free month of unlimited talk, text, and 1 gb of data. After that first month, users can either downgrade to their free plan (200 minutes talk, 500 texts, and 500mb of data) or stay with the unlimited plan for $19.99/month.

Yes, FreedomPop has a free plan, but this service is a bit different. It uses Sprint’s LTE data network to carry calls – so in most areas, the quality is not as high as if on a normal voice network. For more details, you can read our review of FreedomPop’s service here.

Other than that, the major carriers have pretty much bowed out of putting their smartphones on sale this weekend. They are offering the standard, ongoing sales. But that’s it.
