Fear The Walking Dead Premiere: What to Expect From A Zombie Show With No Zombies

Where are the walkers???

That’s probably what a lot of people will be asking (or shouting at their TV) when they watch the ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ premiere this Sunday on AMC.

Rest assured, they are here, they just look a little different and will be appearing a little bit later on than you might expect…but trust me, that’s a good thing.

We’re not in Georgia anymore, so throw out any expectations you might have, sit back and enjoy the ride… because the journey is so much fun.

Make no mistake, ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ IS a show about zombies, but it’s also a whole lot more, as you can see in the trailer below.

So here’s a guide on what to expect from a zombie show with no zombies:

·Expect a lot of scary-movie style yelling:

These characters have no idea walkers are coming, which means they are going to make a LOT of bad decisions.

Decisions like hugging their infected friend or riding in a car with an infected spouse.

So prepare to find yourself screaming: “no!!!!”, “get out of there”, “are you crazy”, etc. throughout the first few episodes.

·Expect a different kind of walker:

The zombies ARE coming!!!

These walkers, or “the infected”, as they’re called on FTWD, are newly turned and look nothing like the ones you know and love.

That is actually part of what makes the show work.

Think about it: it’s much easier to shoot a decrepit, bug infested walker than your just infected mom/boyfriend/sister…

Which brings me to my next point:

·Expect to have a lot of questions:

This show is exploring what happens when the walkers first appear, so expect to find yourself wondering about many different things:

Would you be able to kill an infected loved one?

Would you even believe what was happening, or would you be like Hershel from TWD and continue to hope?

HOW would you survive?

These are just some of the questions you’ll be asking as you watch because no matter how prepared you think you are, this show will prove that you’re not.

·Expect to like this show just as much as ‘The Walking Dead’

While this show is a whole different beast, er, walker, it is just as interesting and draws you in without you even realize it.

The reason why? Because FTWD shows, piece by piece, how it’s humans, not walkers, who are the biggest danger to society.

It is a haunting portrait of human interaction, one viewers will keep tuning in to see week after week.
