Fresh off the massive announcements made by Warner Bros.’ this morning, word is coming in that Will Smith, Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy are being sort for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

After the announcement came today that David Ayer would be officially directing the Suicide Squad movie, (and that it would be the first film up after Batman V Superman) it seems only logical that they would start courting such high profile A list actors. With Marvel preparing to enter phase 3 of their planned cinematic universe, DC have been mostly left to play catch-up at the box office, and with a relatively unknown property such as the Suicide Squad they are looking to play it safe, at least for the time being.

Created in 1959 by Ross Andru and Robert Kanigher, the Suicide Squad are a group of villains captured by a government organization and used in secret, as expendable assets on high risk missions.

In recent years the Suicide Squad have received a little more attention, namely in this years Batman: Assault on Arkham which featured the team in their first animated film, as well as their first live action on screen appearance in the season 2 episode of Arrow appropriately titled Suicide Squad.

The rumored line-up includes Blockbuster, Multiplex, Vixen, Captain Boomerang, Mindboggler, Jaculi and Deadshot.

Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer and will release August 5th 2016
