Walmart announced early this morning that they were extending the deadline for free shipping on items that are to arrive by Christmas, December 25, 2012.
Previously, shoppers at Walmart.com were given a free Christmas shipping deadline of December 18. Free shipping now goes through today, but Walmart does limit that to specific categories of products. They advise shoppers to see the item’s page for shipping availability.
Walmart also provides an ‘expedited shipping’ option for packages to arrive by Christmas, the deadline on this option is December 20.
The final ship to home option for Christmas arrivals is ‘rush shipping,’ which as a December 21 deadline.
After the 21st, Walmart says that some items will be available for purchase online with in-store pickup. Items marked as being available same day can be ordered up to noon on Christmas Eve and picked up by 6pm.
Walmart is advising shoppers to consider Walmart Gift Cards as last minute gifts. The cards can be ordered online and delivered via email within minutes.
Walmart stores will be closed Christmas Day.
