“Game Change,” staring Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, is scheduled to premiere this Saturday on HBO.
The HBO movie is stirring controversy over its portrayal of Palin, who entered the national political arena when she was chosen to run with John McCain as Vice President during his 2008 presidential run. The movie is based on the book “Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime.”
While the book focused on many players in the 2008 presidential campaign, the movie focuses primarily on Sarah Palin. Its reported to portray Palin as an overwhelmed bystander unready for the role she was to play, uneducated about world affairs, largely out of control, and nearly having a nervous breakdown.
Danny Strong, the writer of the screenplay, described the story as a non-partisan, human, look what it takes to run in a presidential campaign. He defends the movie as being as fair and accurate as a movie depiction can be.
But Sarah Palin’s political action committee SarahPAC, strongly disagrees, and has released it’s own ‘movie trailer’ contesting the movie’s accuracy. Both McCain and Palin said they will not watch the movie.
The movie is scheduled to premier at 9PM on HBO this Saturday.
