Google’s latest update to its Android operating system was revealed as “Lollipop” and features major updates to the user interface as well as extra security measures like guest accounts and pairing with trusted devices.
The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will be the first devices to receive the new update, which should arrive in the first week or so of November.
This will be followed by the Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 in the weeks to come.
Android has also announced that Google Play edition devices will get an update as well, meaning that any devices running an unmodified or “unskinned” version of Android should be able to quickly adopt Lollipop.
Samsung, LG and Sony have yet to make official announcements on when they will adopt the new Lollipop operating system – although it is expected that their flagship devices will eventually get around to working with Lollipop.
HTC, however, has announced that the HTC One M7 and the HTC One M8 will get an upgrade “90 days after receiving final version from Google.”
That means the aforementioned models should get an update on around February 2015.
